Dealing with change.

As I look back over my life personally and professionally the one thing that was always constant was change.

There is the change we choose and change that is thrust upon us!

Right now, we can all agree that some form of change has been thrust upon us.

How do we respond to our circumstances without falling into self-pity?

The only answer is to look and say – So What – Now What!

Despite our FEAR, Doubt, and Uncertainty…This too shall pass, and we must go on living.

Yes! Easier said than done.

By now you have noticed that you are in the midst of change and that change has become part of you.

You are fully aware of what is going on in the moment and that is all we can do is live in the moment one day at a time.

Don’t try to run and hide.

I use the serenity prayer to line me up – God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change – The courage to change the things I can – The wisdom to know the difference.

It is time to take the blinders off and be courageous.

Face your feelings about the change, especially when the change is imposed and beyond your control.

Feelings aren’t facts. The facts are always changing!

There is no time for self-pity. I was taught and truly believe that self-pity is the most destructive force known to any human being.

Do your best not to fall into the – “Why me?” “But I don’t want to!” and “It isn’t fair!”

Figure out what your fears or worries are.

That takes work.

Strive to not be a victim, even when you are not in control of the change.

Figure out when to accept and when to reject the change.

Focus on the serenity prayer? God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change – The courage to change the things I can – The wisdom to know the difference.

Reflect on what you are accepting, what you are rejecting, and what you MUST do something about.

Adopt an attitude of FAITH and be grateful.

“FAITH is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of auto-suggestion.” – Napoleon Hill

Keep a positive attitude (Yes it sucks now)

Decide to welcome change as an opportunity.

Find the benefit of the change.

It may be hidden (well hidden) now but there is always a benefit and an opportunity.

Keep the faith along with an attitude of gratitude.

Truth is what we focus on we get more of…find the good and focus on it.

Believe it or not, we get to choose our thoughts and attitudes about each change.

Negativity blocks your creativity and problem-solving abilities.

Positive thoughts will always lead you to possibilities and opportunities.

This is real stuff. I have lived it! – I have been to the point of change or die.

I decided to live by changing everything about me, my thoughts and my behaviors.

I have been through it – If you need to talk…I am here. 973.809.2927
