Are you willing to sell?

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.” – Vince Lombardi

Are you willing to do what it takes?

I am not a natural-born salesperson!

Speaker trainer entertainer—yes. Salesperson—no!

Perhaps you are very good at what you do as well. Maybe you also are not a “natural salesperson.” The excellent news is there’s hope for both of us.

I’m sure if you’re willing to learn to succeed, you can undoubtedly acquire the skills needed to make it in the world of professional selling. No matter what you’re doing, no matter what your skills and talents are, you must be able to sell them to create business success.

I never gave it much thought. I would go out and do what I was good at and left the selling to the “Sales Gods.” Then one day, it hit me. The only way I could do more of what I genuinely loved to do was learn how to be an effective salesperson.

It wasn’t easy at first; it was hard, but I am sure glad I did learn how to sell. I look at it this way: the better I get at selling, the more rewarding it is to my family and me. When you think about it, that’s important stuff. Selling allows me to provide for my loved ones.

Some people don’t struggle with the stigma or idea of selling. I wasn’t one of them! I indeed had my doubts, uncertainties, and fears. Nothing changed until I overcame those fears and became more effective, confident, and competent at selling.

There is always hope for the struggling salesperson, even for the person who’s been told they must sell, the person who doesn’t want to be a sales professional. Sometimes the job we take calls for it.

Education is the answer. If you have the will to succeed in sales, there is hope. You must develop the will to succeed in sales. You must have guidelines to follow. You must learn some principles and take the proper actions to apply them.

To wrap it up, I am saying that even if you’re new to sales, you must learn a process that you can follow. Once you have a process you can follow, you can see what’s working and what’s not.
